The Challenge
Logan City Council identified Logan Gardens Park as a centrally located community asset with strong potential to better support the city’s growing population.
Despite its size and location, the park was underutilised and did not reflect the quality, inclusivity or future-focused vision Council had for the space. With a $3.3 million upgrade planned — including the delivery of a new water park — Council sought to ensure the surrounding park infrastructure would support increased visitation, diverse user groups and long-term community needs.
Located within the City of Logan, home to more than 327,000 people from over 217 cultural backgrounds, the upgrade needed to deliver inclusive, durable and culturally responsive infrastructure that encouraged people of all abilities and backgrounds to gather, connect and enjoy the space.
The Solution
Working in partnership with the Council over multiple stages of the project, a coordinated suite of street and park furniture, shade shelters and park amenities was delivered by GX Outdoors to support the transformation of the space into a premier community destination. Atessa park seats, benches, park platforms and custom table settings were supplied, with table settings manufactured in extra-large formats to maximise space and comfort for group use.
One of our coordinated suite ranges, Atessa simplifies specification through a cohesive product family.
All furniture was finished in bright, vibrant powder coat colours selected to reflect cultural significance and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Yuggera people. Additional colour selections referencing world flags were incorporated into the table settings to celebrate Logan’s multicultural community.
Frontier Double BBQs were installed to provide generous cooking surfaces, with DDA-certified, easy-access design enabling inclusive use by wheelchair users. Whilst Citistyle Bin Enclosures were positioned throughout the park to support cleanliness and safety, including dedicated recycling enclosures with bright yellow lids to encourage waste separation.
Stage two of the project also marked the introduction of the Silhouette Shelter, with multiple shelters installed around the perimeter of the water park. Finished with black frames and red panels, and grouped together to increase shade coverage, the shelters provide protection from the sun while contributing a sleek, contemporary aesthetic to the precinct.
Together, these elements deliver a cohesive, inclusive and highly functional park environment that supports everyday recreation and large community gatherings.
