    GX Outdoors

    Products

Do you make both electric and gas barbeques?

No. GX Outdoors only manufacture electric BBQs. Our electric BBQ units are more user friendly without the risk of gas leaks or dangerous flame-outs that could potentially cause explosions or fires. – protecting the BBQ users as well as our environment. Electric BBQs also means easier logistics – no need to store or carry heavy gas bottles, making it easier to maintain and avoid running out of gas during cooking. You can find more information about the features and benefits of our BBQs here.

What is the difference between a 10amp and 15amp BBQ?

The two differences between a 10 and 15amp BBQ are the heat up times (10amp heats up in 8 minutes vs 15 amp at 6 minutes) and the power supply. Your site will affect whether the 10 or 15 amp is best as there will be a limit to how much power the site can draw. For new installs a 15amp is the preferred option but many sites only have the capacity for a 10amp BBQ. We recommend you check with a qualified electrician if you’re not 100% sure before placing your order.

    3D Product Configurator + AR

    What is AR (Augmented Reality)?

Augmented Reality (AR) is an innovative technology used by the world’s largest companies. It enables customers to easily visualise products in their selected spaces to increase purchase confidence.

Do I need specific software or an app to be able use AR?

No special hardware is required and it runs on iOS and Android mobile devices using

Instant AR (via your mobile browser).

Which devices are compatible with AR?

AR is compatible on iPhone 6S or newer, iPad 5th Generation upward and a large range of popular Android mobile devices. The most commonly used Android devices are Samsung Galaxy S8 upward and the Google Pixel series. You can see the full Android compatibility list here.

Since AR is an advanced technology, it requires a mobile device with a modern camera and processor. Customers with more powerful mobile devices will have a better experience and AR is futureproof in that Apple and Google are adding AR compatibility into new devices, since they see AR as at natural progression of technology.

Low end devices are not currently compatible with AR as Apple and Google have restricted these to ensure there is a base line of performance. For optimum results we recommend using at least an iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy S9 or Pixel 3.

How do I use AR on the GX Outdoors website?

Launching your AR experience will require you to press the “View product in your open space” button from the 3D Configurator on our website. You will then be prompted to scan a QR code to launch the AR.

When your AR experience starts, point your device at the floor and move it in a small circular motion to track your environment. This movement allows your camera to detect your environment and calculate the accurate perspective and sizing for placing your AR product.

Once your AR product appears, use one finger to drag your product and 2 fingers to rotate it. Note that your product is actually positioned in 3D in your space, so you can walk around it, to explore from various angles.

    Payment

Do we need to update our account details with the rebrand to GX Outdoors?

No, our account details remain the same as we are still Grillex Pty Ltd trading as GX Outdoors, however please update our contact details to GX Outdoors reflecting our new email and website addresses.

How can I pay for my order and what payment methods do you accept?

We accept Credit Card (Visa and MasterCard only), cheque and EFT transactions. There are no additional fees when paying by credit card.

Is a deposit required when placing an order?

Yes. A 50% deposit is required 7 days from the Proforma date (prepayment for orders under $1,000). The final 50% payment is due 7 days from final invoice date – which is when the goods are ready for dispatch. Please note: Final payment is required when goods are dispatched, not when the goods are received on site.

Where can I find the bank details for payment?

Our bank account details are shown on the bottom of the proforma invoice issued as well as the Final Tax Invoice.

What happens if my order is ready but I don’t want the goods delivered to site until a later date?

If goods are ready and you decide you do not want them delivered until a later date, we will charge a storage fee and you will still be invoiced even if you chose not to accept the good until a later date.

    Shelters

What engineering certifications do your shelters have?

Our park shelters are engineered to meet Australian standards, including C2 or C3 cyclonic ratings. We provide engineering certification that complies with all states and territories within Australia, making our shelters ideal for public space furnishings, council parks and gardens, and infrastructure enhancement. Some shelters are better suited to higher wind-rated areas than others—our sales team can assist you in selecting the design that best complies with your site conditions and location.

Do you offer custom slab designs for existing concrete slabs or poor soil conditions?

All our shelters have a universal slab and reinforcing design rated for average to poor soil. We recommend providing a soil report from the site where possible, particularly in locations with existing concrete or challenging soil conditions. Our engineering team will review the sample and, if required, create a revised footing design to suit your requirements.

Can the screens and laser-cut panels of your shelters be customised?

Yes, our street furniture shelters allow semi-customisation, including laser-cut screens and logos. Whether for urban greening projects or council parks, our team can help adapt each shelter’s design to match your branding or site aesthetics. Speak with us to explore semi-customisation possibilities within our shelter range.

    Are your shelters vandal-resistant?

GX Outdoors shelters are built for vandal resistance and public durability. Most of our shelters are made from aluminium and stainless steel and, where possible, we include security screws and concealed fixings that require specialised tools to prevent disassembly. Our powder-coated, TimberImage, and anodised finishes provide a protective coating against graffiti, scratching, and UV damage.

What are the differences between Inground, Surface & Sub-Surface mounting options?

GX Outdoors park shelters feature three mounting types:

    • Surface mounting is the most common method for installing park shelters and outdoor structures, where the shelter posts have a base plate that is bolted directly onto the concrete slab.
    • Sub-surface mounting also includes a base plate but with longer posts which are fixed on top of the footing and then concealed with a poured concrete slab, creating a cleaner look, suitable for landscape architecture projects.
    • Inground mounting has no base plate. Longer posts are concreted directly into the shelter’s footing, offering a permanent solution ideal for high-use park infrastructure and durable public space furnishings.

What is the maximum size for a shelter? Can I order a custom size shelter?

At GX Outdoors, we can engineer custom-sized park shelters with lengths to meet the specific requirements of your site. For example, we have worked on shelter structures up to 30 metres in length. Standard widths extend up to 6 metres, but we can do wider roof spans (over 6 metres) by incorporating internal posts. Ideal for councils, parks and gardens, and outdoor public dining furniture projects requiring scalable shelter solutions.

What material are your shelters made from, and can they withstand Australian weather conditions?

The GX Outdoors park shelter range is designed for exceptional durability. Built from marine-grade aluminium with a protective powder-coated finish, our shelters endure everything from intense sun to extreme winds. Rated to meet C2 or C3 cyclone ratings, they are perfect for high-wind zones and coastal environments.

Choosing an electric BBQ offers unmatched saftey and convenience for parks, public spaces, and urban furniture installations. Unlike gas BBQs, electric units eliminate open flames and gas leaks, making them ideal for areas with strict safety regulations. They heat up quickly, provide precise temperature control, and require minimal maintenance. Electric BBQs are versatile, suitable for both indoor and outdoors use, and more cost effective with lower running costs. Plus, they can be powered using renewable energy for a grenner solution.

GX Outdoors BBQs are backed by 24/7 customer support. If an error occurs, our team provides fast assistance to keep your park BBQs running reliably in public spaces.

    What are the electrical requirements?

An electrician is required to run power to the BBQ site and install a GPO inside the cabinet. Depending on the model, power must be supplied to our 10A and 15A BBQs.

Can the hotplate size be customised?

GX Outdoors BBQs come with a standard hotplate, but we can supply raised mounts to fit most bench openings, allowing our hotplate to be used in a wide range of installations.

    What’s the difference between the 10A and 15A BBQ’s?

The 10A GX Outdoors BBQ hotplate plugs into any standard GPO, making it easy and cost-effective to install (Nearly all household GPO's are 10A). The 15A hotplate heats faster and maintains higher cooking temperatures but requires a dedicated 15A circuit. Both are ideal for public spaces and outdoor parks.

    Street Furniture

What is street furniture and what does it include?

Street furniture refers to outdoor products installed in public spaces such as parks, streetscapes, civic precincts and transport hubs. It includes park benches, public seating, table settings, park shelters, shade structures, park barbeques, bin enclosures, bike racks, drinking fountains, bollards and modular seating systems. In Australia, street furniture is specified to withstand heavy public use, high UV exposure and coastal conditions while meeting accessibility requirements.

What materials are used in GX Outdoors street furniture?

GX Outdoors street furniture is manufactured using powder-coated steel, marine-grade aluminium, stainless steel hardware and a choice of timber and timber-look finishes. Timber finish options include natural Hardwood, OneWood (a sustainable engineered timber alternative rated Durability Class 1) and TimberImage (an aluminium extrusion with an authentic woodgrain finish that requires no maintenance). All materials are chosen for durability, low maintenance and resistance to UV exposure, salt air and heavy public use.

Does GX Outdoors street furniture meet Australian accessibility standards?

Yes. GX Outdoors products are designed with accessibility in mind and can be specified to meet Australian Standards AS 1428.1 and AS 1428.2, which cover accessible design for the built environment. We work with councils and landscape architects to ensure products meet DDA compliance requirements and support inclusive public spaces for people of all abilities.

How long does GX Outdoors street furniture last?

GX Outdoors products are backed by structural warranties of up to 20 years, among the longest available in the Australian street furniture market. Built for Australian conditions and engineered for high-traffic public use, our products are designed to deliver a low total lifecycle cost for councils managing long-term public infrastructure assets.

Can GX Outdoors street furniture be customised for specific projects?

Yes. GX Outdoors offers a broad range of semi-custom options across the product range, including choice of powder-coat colour, timber finish (Hardwood, OneWood or TimberImage), seating configuration and custom lengths up to 6 metres. Councils, landscape architects and developers can tailor products to match existing streetscape character, meet project specifications or align with local design guidelines without the cost and lead time of fully bespoke manufacturing.

Which states in Australia does GX Outdoors supply street furniture to?

GX Outdoors supplies street and park furniture to councils and public space projects across all Australian states and territories. Recent installations include parks and precincts in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia.

Is GX Outdoors street furniture suitable for coastal Australian environments?

Yes. GX Outdoors products are manufactured using marine-grade aluminium frames and extrusions, making them well suited to coastal environments with exposure to salt air, humidity and UV radiation. Stainless steel hardware, marine-grade powder-coat finishes and corrosion-resistant materials are available for projects in beachside parks, waterfront precincts and coastal council areas across Queensland, WA, NSW and Victoria.
