The Project
Located on the banks of the Burnett River, ANZAC Park in Bundaberg has been transformed into a welcoming and accessible community space through a major redevelopment led by Bundaberg Regional Council. The upgrade supports the Council’s vision of creating recreational areas that honour the region’s service personnel while providing spaces for families and the broader community to gather.
The redeveloped precinct features a new memorial space, amenities building, undercover barbecue facilities, sheltered seating areas, landscaped gardens, pathways, and expanded open lawn spaces, to provide a place where remembrance, community gatherings, and everyday outdoor activities can coexist
The Challenge
ANZAC Park required a carefully considered approach that balanced the needs of a contemporary public space in the town's CBD with the significance of its commemorative purpose. The design needed to create welcoming spaces for everyday community use while maintaining the dignity and respect expected of a memorial setting.
The Solution
GX Outdoors supplied a range of high-quality outdoor furniture and infrastructure to complement the redevelopment. This included Akora Cantilever shelters, Citistyle table settings, Akuna drinking fountains, and Elite BBQs, along with Moda bench seats, Citistyle bollards and tree grates, helping to enhance both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of ANZAC Park’s refreshed spaces.
One of the project's standout features was the incorporation of semi-custom laser-cut plinth-mounted seating designed to integrate seamlessly with the memorial elements. Colours and finishes were carefully selected to complement the surrounding structures and reinforce the overall character of the space.
