GX Outdoors marks 20 years in business. A milestone grounded in a family story that began well before 2006.
The foundations of GX Outdoors have been laid through decades of experience in the open space industry, shaped by a family deeply connected to play, parks and community infrastructure.
When GX Outdoors was formally established in 2006, it carried forward that experience with a clear and enduring purpose: to design and manufacture solutions for public spaces that bring people together outdoors.
In the early years, progress came steadily. Relationships were built project by project, and products were refined through real-world feedback and site experience. Conversations with Councils, designers and contractors influenced decisions in real time, shaping not only individual outcomes but the way the business itself would operate. Over time, those conversations became embedded in the culture of GX Outdoors and continue to inform how it works today.
The foundations of GX Outdoors have been laid through decades of experience in the open space industry, shaped by a family deeply connected to play, parks and community infrastructure.
Across the past two decades, public space has evolved significantly. Parks are now recognised as essential community assets that support health, connection and local identity. Expectations around accessibility, sustainability and long-term performance have increased, and with them the level of thought and care required in design and manufacturing. GX Outdoors has evolved alongside these changes, learning from each project and adapting through research, collaboration and ongoing refinement.
Local manufacturing has been an important part of that evolution. Producing in Australia has provided consistency and control over quality, allowed adjustments when needed and strengthened long-term relationships with clients who value certainty. It has also supported the skilled workforce behind every shelter, seat and structure delivered, reinforcing a commitment to both community and industry.
And more importantly, the direction of the business has always been shaped by its people. Many members of the team have been part of GX Outdoors for years, bringing experience that carries through from design to production to delivery. That continuity fosters stability and a shared understanding of what matters most not only on site, from durability and compliance but to the finer details that influence everyday community use.

Over 20 years, insights have accumulated through thousands of discussions, installations and reviews. Feedback has informed materials and detailing. Research has strengthened compliance and usability. Collaboration has broadened what is achievable within public space design. The business today reflects that accumulation of knowledge and the steady improvement that comes from listening and learning over time.
Looking ahead, public space will continue to change as communities grow, expectations shift and patterns of outdoor use evolve. GX Outdoors approaches that future with the same mindset that shaped its beginnings: to listen carefully, refine consistently and contribute meaningfully to the environments communities rely on every day.
“We have invested decades into building something we believe in, and we have grown alongside the communities and partners we work with. Reaching 20 years reflects the commitment of our family, the loyalty of our team and the trust placed in us by industry.”
— Martin Rowland, Managing Director
